13 Days Itinerary Islamabad,Taxila,Peshawar,Swat and Kumrat Valley

Day 01

Arrival at Islamabad airport. Transfer to hotel, if earlier flight we can explore around Islamabad. Start visit from Faisal Mosque, Daman Koh, Old Saidpur Village, Lok Virsa heritage museum, Pakistan monument at ShakarParian etc. At night visit any shopping centre, Centaurus Mall, Jinnah Or super Market. Day 02 Visit Taxila and Peshawar

After breakfast we will drive via the historical ancient Grand Trunk Road to Peshawar approximately 184 km en route you will visit a part of ancient Grand Trunk Road and the memorial of Brigadier General John Nicolson(1822-57) just before Taxila. In Taxila we will visit a few sites and Taxila Museum. Taxila is historically known as Takshashila, a city that dates to 5th century BC. The recorded history of Taxila starts from 6th century BC, when Gandhara Kingdom became part of the Achaemenid Empire of Persia. After this you will be back on the GT Road towards Peshawar passing Attock Fort, Attock Bridge with junction point of Kabul River and Indus River. Hotel Greens, or Shelton house Guest house

Day 03 Explore the oldest historical part of Peshawar.

After breakfast you can explore the old part of hustle bustle Peshawar Including Peshawar Museum Islamia Collage, QisaKhawniBazzar, Mohbat Khan Masjid and Mohallah Sethian etc .Dinner at famous local Charsi Tikka Restaurant at Namak mandi. Hotel Greens or Shelton guesthouse Peshawar

Day 04 Drive to Swat valley approximately 170 km

It is a beautiful drive 2 options drive on old Mardan Road over historical Malakand Pass to Swat or with new Motorway to Swat. En route you will visit Thaktbhai remains, a historical Buddhist site from Ist century CE. It was listed as the UNESCO World Heritage site in 1980. Follow visit to the ancient city of Bazira at Barikot Village. This place was conquered by Alexander the Great in 326 BC. Late afternoon visit Butkhar at Saidu Sharif . Day 05 Explore Around Swat Valley

Following breakfast we will drive towards Udigram approximately 10 km from SaiduSharif . Alexander the Great fought one of his famous battle here. The remains of oldest Mosque of Mahmud Ghaznavi is also here below the Hidu Shahi Fort. You will also enjoy a visit to the impressive large Shingardar Stupa and Amlokdar Stupa .Hotel Pameer or Rock City Resort Mingora City Swat

Day 06

Drive to the beautiful Kalam Valley approximately 105 km from Mangora. Swat valley is a very lush green valley full of fruit orchards. You will also visit Madian and Behrian both tourist locations worth to stop to explore around. Then onto Kalam late afternoon. Hotel Pameer or Heaven Rose Kalam

Day 07

Drive to Mahodant Lake about 35 km from Kalam, a day trip return to Kalam . Although the road from Kalam to Mahodant is very rough it is picturesque with the river full of trout fish. Mahodand Lake lies at the foothills of Hindukush mountains at an elevation of 2,865 m (9,400 ft), surrounded by meadows, mountains and dense forests .On the way you can enjoy the fascinating view of Falaksair Peak 5771m. Day 08

Drive to Miandam about 50 km from Kalam. Miandam is beautiful and coolest place in the area. Hotel in Maindam

Day 09

A full day to visit and explore MalamJabba ski resort and return to Mangora city approximately 70 km from Miandam. Hotel Pameer or Rock city Resort

Day 10
Morning visit Swat museum at Saidu Sarif and then drive toward Kumrat valley of Dir via Chakdara bridge where you can see Churchill Picket above the hill. In yang age he was in the British Army and fought the Malakand battle and later on he become Prim minister of UK. Further on you will pass the area from where Alexander the great enter to Pakistan from Afganistan. After Passing Timarghra drive along Dir river to reach Dir town .Just before Dir town the right valley along the stream goes to the Kumrat valley .May it can be a good idea to spent night at Dir to get better choice of hotel , as in Kumrat valley hotels are very basic. Day 11

After early breakfast drive to Kumrat Valley which is about 100 km.Road behind Thall village is not good. It will be a long day to explore Kumrat valley and come back to Dir town for better hotels. Although there are some basic hotels and camping facilities in Kumrat Valley.
The large deodars give Kumrat a fairytale. The village at the entrance to Kumrat Valley is named Thall . Hotel Shelton Resort or Green Hills Hotel

Day 12
Drive back to Islamamabad approximately 322 km about 7 hours passing Timergara,Chekdara bridge,Batkhaila and via new motorway to Islamabad. Hotel View hill or Adventure Lodge Guesthouse

Day 13
Transfer to airport where trip ends
